What is a will?

A will is a legal declaration and delegation of your belongings so that when you die everyone knows what should happen to your possessions, money or property. If you have children, the declaration also determines who must look after them if you die unexpectedly.

A will states your money, property and possessions should be divided, if at all, when you die and also who will be in charge of making sure that happens – this person is called your ‘executor’.
